I think it's a shame they've given the P-I machines so much attention. These machines are definitely the least interesting and useable. Their respective parameter ranges are really limited, they sound hard and metallic (and not really "physical"!), I use them quite rarely. I understand that these are the most "avant garde" and "new" machines in the MD, but that doesn't really help their usability. Frankly, I think the FM snare sounds equally realistic as the P-I snare. But then again, that's only my opinion... :) Nothing really beats the EFM sounds for punch and flexibility, I use them 80% of the time. Tonal, fx, bass, melodic and....drums. They can do it all. A few weeks back I did a 3-part string section with 3 tuned EFM hihats, using 6 LFOs. Marvellous. ;-) Regards, Nils > I spoke to the Elektron guys a couple of months ago, and they told me > that the PI machines really eats a lot of DSP processing power, so in > order to guarantee that you are able to have 16 PI machines + fx > running at the same time, they can't really cram more stuff into of > the machine. > > /Janne > > -- > Janne G:son Berg, d3berg@d... http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/~d3berg > .
