Depth in a kick? How would you define depth in a kick? :-)))
Anyway, the MD's bassdrum is very nice. There are many different models. 
I like the newest bassdrum model the most. It's no TR909, but it can 
sound phatter and deeper. It sounds different though. If you want real 
TR909, then either get yourself a TR909 or some good sample CD's.

Sure, you can always do that. There are also enough internal effects to 
provide additional power.

I have an XBase as well, and even though I love it as much as the MD, 
the XBase is no 909 either. As I said: if you want TR909, there's only 
the original.
XBase and MD can't be compared. I'm glad to own both because they really 
don't have any "sonic overlaps" imo.
I personally think the MD lacks raw sounding hihats that cut through the 
mix, and that's one of the things where the XBase excells. The bassdrum 
of both machines sound completely different as well, as does the distortion.

I've had a microQ (not keyboard) over here some weeks ago. Goes well 
with the MD.
