finite,

i'm working now so i can't tell you the exact keystrokes, but you need 
to go into the bootloader menu (the one where you can select to load 
the new OS file) and do a system reset.  one of the reset options 
doesn't reset to EMPTY but rather resets to the original patterns which 
should pop out of ROM...

Did I just dream that I did this before? give it a try :)

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
