Well, I don't know if you've signed up as an Elektron Friend, but
inthe info we sent out the first FAQ entry was this:

That's "this is no sampler" spelled out at least! :)

But I think many people will find that the RAM machines will open up
new ways for interacting with other gear, a microphone or a turntable.
So maybe wait for a few reports from people exploring this possibility
before deciding on your model. However, I think the SPS-1 without the
UW will fit many people very well, that's why we will keep both flavours!

I think that if we were to create something that we'd like to name a
sampler we'd like to dig into the concept to turn things around, a bit
like I think we did with the MD for drum machines. Still, I want to
stress that the RAM machines could be very interesting in the hands of
the right person! We've used it alot in our demos so far to integrate
a turntable to mix up stuff in realtime. Time will tell how and if
people will use it!
