All very different machines.... look at either: a) Sherman Filterbank v1 or v2 b) Mutronics Mutator c) Akai MFC42 d) Electrix Filter Queen or Filter Factory e) MoogerFooger MF-101 -------------- a) Sherman Filterbank v1 or v2 Can totally fuck up your sound. In a good, harsh way, if you know what I mean? Wouldn't use it as a generic filterbank and if you are planning on running it over the top of your MnM...... you may like it, you may not. Just sold my v1 Sherman as I'm only doing live stuff at the moment and I wouldn't take it near a sound system. Capacity to be very, very evil! -------------- b) Mutronics Mutator Another sweet unit, I've used one a few times, sadly never owned one. Like the Sherman, good and pure quality. Down to personal taste between the Sherman & Mutator. I guess the Mutator is a little less harsh. -------------- c) Akai MFC42 I've got one of these, unfortunatly off at the Doktors at the moment. I'm really quite fond of it, 2ru and lots of knobs to twiddle. Good sound to it for me and works great for generic type stuff, run drums through it and take it out live no problems. -------------- d) Electrix Filter Queen or Filter Factory I've had a play a few times, preferred the sound of the Akai, but thats just me... I'll let an owner give an opinon. -------------- e) MoogerFooger MF-101 No Comment. Haven't used one more then playing around with it a few times. Sounded cool, but can't really give an opinon on it. -------------- >> I just found a Akai MFC42... have any of you used one... if so what do you think of the unit. Should I just save up for a Sherman filterbank 2... or should I get both? Two different beasts... I used to have both of them till a short while ago. Sherman good for fucking shit up, Akai good for more generic filter work. I think the Akai is more better suited for live work, the Sherman for the studio. Given a choice, I'd have both... depends what kind of music you do and what you want out of your filterbank really. Just my 2c's worth......
