re: Joystick Control

(The subject that wouldn't die...)

If you are looking for a free-standing joystick to use, search for the
old IBM PCjr joysticks! They are exactly what the doctor ordered.
(With some work you could panel mount one of these, but I'm not sure
that it would be worth the effort.) They can be switched between auto
centering or not, they have a nice feel and a nice case to sit where
ever you want, about a 6 foot cord ending in an 8 pin connector that
is conpatible with .1" spacing headers, use 100K pots, and have 2
independent butons that can be used to drive gate and/or trigger
circuts. The wiring may or may not be usable as supplied, but they
are easy to re-wire. Since they were designed for gaming, they are
very sturdy inside. And they should be cheap. I bought 5 of them a
year or so ago for $2.00 each!

I would be happy to post a couple of pictures if anyone asks.
