Mark III Power supply issue

Mark III Power supply issue

2015-10-21 by tjkoob@...

Hi all, just wanted to check with this group on an issue with my Mark III Disklavier. In short, the power just stopped working. I spoke with a tech from the piano retailer, and we checked that the connections were tight, switches were all on, plugged it in to a couple of outlets - but still nothing. The current belief is that the power supply needs replacing ($850 for parts/labor). I also asked about upgrading to the DKC 850, which I've considered....cost for that is roughtly $2,000 (parts/labor) and that would still require a new power supply, the upagraded DKC 850 doesn't address the power issue.

Just wanted to check with others to see if this sounds correct and if the numbers are in the ballpark of being reasonable.

Thanks.

Hi,
That $850 price for new unit is similar to what I was quoted by Yamaha to replace my Mark IV power supply. The quote did not include delivery, tax and installation.
You might consider calling Yamaha customer support. Because they had me send my unit to them for repair which depending on problem might be less than buying new.
In my case they did not find a problem after testing and returned it to me without charging me.
