VanBasco That is the one I use with my DKV! Just remember to assign the piano parts to channel 1 (or what ever you have set up). You may also need to rename (just that) the KAR files to MID files and back again if you use cakewalk as the sequencer (editor) for doing the instruments (voices) assignment. I also think that the channel - track confusion would arrive in KAR. In standard KAR files track 2 (not channel 2) is assigned to lyrics. (VanBasco recognizes them in any track) If you want to make your own KAR files then try PGMUSIC's Power Tracks Sequencer, it is not as powerful as Cakewalk, but has nicer features to add lyrics to MID files an create KAR files. There were some free KAR editors but not so nice to use for me.
