I know this sounds rather simplistic, but my disklavier grand has a speaker mounted on the bottom of the piano. The speaker itself has a volume control. Since you say the piano sounds loud and the XG has a low volume, why not just turn the volume up on the speaker? Once everything is in sync, you should be able to adjust volume up and down for both piano and XG in unison.
