Crumar T-1 Organ Opinons?

2002-03-29 by minikorg66

Hello! My name is Steve and I'm a new group member.....I've played
keyboards and collected vintage keyboard/synth gear since the early
1980's, and within the next week am going to be picking up an old
Crumar T-1 organ from a friend locally. Surprisingly, I've never
owned a Crumar before (although I have owned just about every other
brand of keyboard gear ever produced, I think!). Anyway, I was
hoping to possibly use this organ as a backup to my Voce organ module
when playing live gigs, and wanted to get opinions from the experts
here regarding their sound.

How accurate is the Hammond simulation? I'm sure it would sound
great through a real Leslie (anything would, really), but I plan to
use it with a Voce leslie simulator. Is the sound comparable to
other Hammond simulators of the same era (i.e., Korg B/CX-3, Roland
VK-09/VK-1, Yamaha SK-20/30/50D, etc.?). Does it even compare to the
newer Hammond clones (Voce, Oberheim, Roland, etc.)? Is it even
worth lugging around to gigs? I love the fact that it is analog, has
drawbars, and isn't really costing me any money to get. So, any
opinions would be welcome! Thanks!
