Replacement Panel videos on YouTube

Replacement Panel videos on YouTube

2012-03-16 by syntegrator

Hey everyone,

I have just started a new playlist on my YouTube channel that details the reconditioning of a Chroma Polaris with Paul's incredible new membrane panels.

So far I have unboxed the panels and then done a detailed compare with the stock ones on my Polaris. More videos are coming in the next weeks as I complete the replacement procedure and move into general service of the refitted Polaris unit - You're all invited to check them out as I record them.

Cheers,

Syntegrator

Very nice!
I appresiate you putting the time into the project.
I have a ChromaPolaris  that I aquired from a gentalman that a had the pleasure of meeting that worked at ARP.  Bill Thomas provided me with this instrument,  People told me that I was foolish to put any time into the instrument because the mylar would fail and there was no way of repairing them.
Now there is!
Thank you Paul!!!
Now I'm in the market for a second ChromaPolaris to be able to use in a touring band.
Thank you Paul and Thank you Syntegrator.
Cheers
sincerely
Thomas Rizzi

Hi Thomas,

I just posted 25 more videos taken over the last few days as I worked through the membrane panel upgrade procedure. While I am inside the machine I am also giving the keybed a strip-down, clean and rebuild so if you are interested in that procedure too, feel free to check it out.

Cheers,

Syntegrator

I will do that.
To me the ChromaPolaris represents the best of many worlds.
Thanks for taking the time to spread the knowledge.
Have a great day.
Thomas

Wonderful! I'm looking forward to watching these videos in depth...as I'll be ordering some replacement panels here in the next few months.

Thanks so much for posting!

Re: Replacement Panel videos on YouTube

I totally agree with you Steve: The process is very straightforward and the PDF installation guide is excellent. Kudos to Paul once again!

For anyone about to start the process though, it can't hurt to get an insight into someone else's experience doing the upgrade... You only get one chance to do it right after all.

For others thinking about buying the panels, these videos illustrate what is involved in a semi-entertaining way. I've gotten some very positive feedback so far in the form of private messages, at any rate.

Incidentally, I have developed patterns for replacement fader dust covers as part of this playlist - Applying chemicals all over the front panel to remove the membrane glue is very likely to foul the original dust cover material, so I am replacing mine with neoprene covers cut from the new pattern. Once I complete the rebuild (and have video of the new covers in action) I will be posting the pattern PDF for everyone to share.

Cheers,

Syntegrator

I didn't assume either way...whether it would be difficult or easy. Good to know that it's a relatively straightforward process though. All the same; I thank you for taking the time to upload these videos. That's all I meant.

Many kudos to Paul! I can hardly wait to place my order.
