Polaris patches in SoundDiver.lib format

2004-09-03 by marmaduke1012004

Hello,

Someone recently posted some Polaris patches in SoundDiver's LIB
format.
My question is, how were you able to edit them or store them in
SoundDiver as the program seems to have an adaptation file (profile)
for the Rhodes Chroma, but none for the Chroma Polaris.
Do you have a version of SD that has a CP profile?

regards,

LWG

The public beta of SoundDiver 3.1 [1] (XSKey [2] required) installs a
file called "Chroma Polaris.ADA" in the following directory:

~/Library/Application Support/Emagic/SoundDiver Adaptations/

I'm not sure about earlier versions of SoundDiver. I don't know whether
the file format is the same across versions of SoundDiver and/or across
platforms (I assume that the Windows version was, like Logic,
discontinued after the Apple acquisition).

A bit more on this:

The modification date of the Polaris adaptation that comes with the
SoundDiver 3.1 beta is July 28, 2002, so I assume it will work with
earlier versions, at least on Mac OS. I don't know what legal issues
might exist with posting or sending a copy of this file; but you can
probably retrieve it from the beta download [1] even if you don't have
an XSKey to launch the app, at least if you're running Mac OS X--and
why wouldn't you be?! :)

It looks like the author is Malte Rogacki, who is on the ChromaTalk
list [2] and also wrote the Chroma adaptation.

From my experience running the Chroma site, I think it would be better
if patches were submitted in sysex format as a baseline and then
optionally in proprietary editor/librarian file formats. Everyone will
have access to them this way, as all that is required is a sysex app,
for instance SysEx Librarian [3] for Mac OS X, Sysex [4] for Mac System
7 - OS 9.x, or a Windows equivalent (does anyone have some
recommendations here? I'd like to include some on my new Chroma site).
