How much do people think a set of brand new membrane switches would be
worth? I'm thinking of having some made, but low volume production isn't
exactly dirt cheap.

Thank you Paul D. DeRocco
It's time to make that part

i really have had it with those stupid mylar ribbons--- the amount of time and frustration wasted on trying to repair them just to have them snap again ,shorter and shorter, till there is nothing left is rediculous. I would think that if working polarises now sell for 600-700 then the switch panels have to be worth $200+ (300?) to keep them going. I guess you would have to solder in a couple diffrent style connectors to the boards to accomodate a different type of multi strand ribbon. (I already trashed those original connectors when trying to link real wires to the control panels.

any timeline on that new switches idea ? ---maybe then i wont sell the polaris--- [but i have a guy who wants it for ALL the chips already calling me.] the thing would be really fine if i could hook up those control panels, but now there is nothing left to try to connect to-- would the part be a whole new 'stick on' touch pad with actual WIRES coming off it?

It would be almost identical to the membrane switches that are on there, but
made out of real Mylar, instead of the stuff Fender of Japan used that
deteriorates after a few years.

Can't say for certain when they'll be ready, but maybe January. I've got
finished artwork for all the layers, I've got someone to handle the
distribution (i.e., sales tax collection in Massachusetts), so now I have to
pick a vendor. I'll also have to make sure they work on a friend's Polaris
(since mine is an old prototype). Don't have a price yet.

That would be really cool!   The panel on the left side of my Polaris is dead and haven't opened it up to check out the problem (been afraid to).   I have a perfectly fine SCI Prophet 600 that I would sell before I sell my Polaris.  It just sounds so much better.

Great to hear that you are moving forward with the membrane panels.

You can count me in for one. Will you start a waiting list?

If you're willing to ship international (the Netherlands in my case), I'd be interested in one set.

Thanks,
Ben

I know lots of people want these in a hurry. However, it's likely that my
partner and I won't get to this until after NAMM, because we're also working
on something to show at NAMM, and that's a hard deadline.

Hi Paul, glad to hear that the project is still on your radar. Hope to hear some news after the new year some time. Happy holidays.

I have one with a decent front and screwed up cpu board if this is still around. We just fixed up another one too. Did some detail work on it to where it's pretty great. Some cracks around buttons though. THere must be a way to just laminate a transparent material over those? -Bob

By the way, I'm at a good breakpoint at work, so I'm going to scope out a
supplier for new membrane panels this week.
