Internal battery gone bad

Internal battery gone bad

2008-05-30 by Ruben Luna

Hello guys
I have this Polaris sitting in my office for the last 14 years, the battery gone bad because of was not used for a year it was in storage before I move from New York city to grand rapids mi
Do I need to send it for repair or this is something I can do myself?
Regard
Ruben

The battery has probably leaked all over the interior, so at minimum the
battery holder will need replacement. Whether it's leaked on the circuit
board and destroyed anything depends upon what position it was sitting in,
so you'll have to open it up and look.

Nope.. the reason I know the battery was bad is because I opened and
replace it with Duracell batteries. the batterie holder and the
circuit are clean. I just can't get any sound. Am I using the wrong
batteries?

The batteries only keep the memory alive, and any brand will do. Since they
were dead, the contents of the memory were lost. This includes not only the
programs but also the various calibrations. You should download the service
manual and perform all the calibrations in it. If you still get no sound,
then you may have actual hardware issues related more to age than to the
formerly dead battery.
