HELP! my polaris is frozen

HELP! my polaris is frozen

2007-02-03 by alex459686

hi
after about 1 hours play, my chroma polaris II has totally frozen up .
all of its lights are on apart from the "assignable control" section, where only its volume
button light is on .
if i press 7, 8 or 9 on the ank select panel, then the bend lever range light flashes .
i had not moved my synth, and have been using a midi controller i had bult in max/msp to
control it .
now it refuses to make any sound, nor respnd to midi nor buttons .
i have opened it up and trimmed the membrane tails, with no success .
in your experience, is this a membrane issue or something more serious ?

a couple more points :
-im sick of constantly repairing and trimming the membrane . is there any more
permanent fix that can be done.
-does anyone know of a synth repair shop/guy in japan ?

thanks in advance for the time

peace

a

You can hardwire the internal eproms (for lack of proper name?) to
monetary on/off buttons, and install them on the outer shell..
That is what I am in the middle of doing right now.

It's a shot in the dark; however, for generally bad behaviour wherein
the LEDs stick on (or off) in funny patterns (and there doesn't seem to
be a 1:1 correspondence to what you're doing with the keyboard), check
out the "DC OK Threshhold" section of the "Adjustments and Checkout"
section of the Polaris Service Manual available on the page here:
