Polyphonic Aftertouch

Polyphonic Aftertouch

2017-07-20 by conorstrachan@...

Hi there

I have tried to get Polyphonic Aftertouch working with the Polaris but there are some problems. When I have it in PolyAT mode on my Ensoniq SQ80 and I set the Cutoff to pedal, I get an extremely small travel of the filter. I have checked on Midi Scripter and I am outputting a full range of Midi-CC from the SQ-80 to the Polaris and have the cut off low down to give it room to open. However when I change to channel aftertouch on the SQ80 it gives me the full range of travel. Has anyone tried to use the Polaris with PolyAT successfully?

Is this a calibration issue with the pedal therefore not sweeping properly? I have tried to use my Yamaha FC7 with it an the pedal does not seem to work even tried it with the polar adapter.

Is this with the Cutoff Pedal parameter turned all the way up?

The Yamaha pedal has a different resistance and pinout compared to the Polaris pedal. The Polaris uses a variable 0-100K resistor between sleeve and tip. The Yamaha is really a volume pedal with tip, ring and sleeve, and has a lower resistance, so it's not compatible.

Hi Paul

Yes the cut-off is all the way up.

It works perfectly in channel aftertouch.
But when it is PolyAT the amount Of sweep for the filter using the aftertouch is very small.
