Midi Control Panel

Midi Control Panel

2017-06-09 by conorstrachan@...

Finally got a Polaris to come over to my studio in the UK.

Hard to find over here!

Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a programme to control/write/save patches etc..

This is a really good programme that you can control from inside a DAW

Their needs to be a Chroma Polaris panel for this?

If not, are there any alternatives?

Mac user here.

Looking forward to putting this on some tracks

Congratulations on getting your Polaris! I don't know of any plug-ins for DAWs, but there is a universal editor/librarian for the Mac that can control the Polaris. It's called MIDI Quest Pro, you can download a demo of it at http://www.squest.com/. It can emulate the front Panel of the Polaris, it shows a graphic representation of both membrane sets when you use that function. A full license isn't cheap, but if you have other vintage synths, it can control them too. I have mine set up to control my Polaris, a Yamaha TX816, and a E-mu Vintage Keys.

Hope that helps,
David

Great many thanks!

This is exactly what I would use.

It seems like there is a way to having it running inside a DAW, Ideally through a Logic instrument track like you can using the CTRL programme.

: )

Well I found out it is not 64 bit for mac yet. Which means I can't use it in Logic X or ProTools.
Someone should make a CTRL panel for the Chroma Polaris!

Hi,
I just got an e-mail from SoundQuest support that said the current version of MIDI Quest can run on Mac OSX El Capitan and Sierra. They also said that MIDI Quest v12, the next version, which is 64-bit clean, is due to be released later this year. So it looks like there are options for both now and later.

Hope this helps,
David

Hi David

Thanks for the update. I have tried it out in the demo mode and it works. I've used CTRL for other synths as it's 64bit and goes into the DAW as an AU but the Midi Quest looks more solid. When it comes out in 64bit I think I will get it.

Many thanks
