Midi?

Midi?

2005-04-04 by colmaouno

Hello all,
So yea I recently aquired a WORKING polaris as of today. I hooked it up to my midi patch
bay edirol um880. Tried to record some midi in Logic 7 but nothing. I patched it again
pushing some buttons on my edirol and logic went crazy receiving midi commands from
the polaris. Does anyone know how to get midi to work properly on this beast? Let me
know thanks.
Regads,
Marco

If you press Lower Function and then B, is button number 10 lit up? If
not, turn 10 on, and then try it again, thats the main midi out
function button.

Thanks for your help Byron. Its recording midi now but the notes stay stuck. I have a
edirol um880 8x8 midi patch bay. In order to make the Polaris stop playing I have to turn
off the 'midi out' of the edirol. I dont know what the deal is.

Marco

Is the midi being recorded into a sequencer program? If so - is it possible
that the sequencer has 'midi echo' turned on (allowing the Polaris' output to
be sent right back to itself - causing a midi loop)?

I am recording with Logic 7. But the Polaris is having the same problem (stuck notes) with
the Edirol midi patch bay stand alone. Problably the Edirol itself has midi echo on?
I dont know, I have what seems to be the same dilema with a SCI Prophet 600, but theres a
ROM upgrade that fixes note on droning. Well thanks again. And does anybody know
where I can find a free owner's manual?

Marco

You can find Polaris manuals and other info on the Rhodes Chroma info
site http://www.rhodeschroma.com/?id=polaris

You also might want to try bypassing your midi box all together, or
maybe unplug the Midi In to the Poalr while playing it into the
sequencer, and then plug it back in and unplug the OUT when you play
the sequencer back. If it works like that then it'd have to be a midi
loop.

Cheers,
