Non-working Polaris on the way!

Non-working Polaris on the way!

2017-03-25 by nuwavboy@...

Hello everyone!

Just picked up a Polaris thats described as "powering on, all lights light up but does not respond to button pushes and does not produce sound" - my kind of project...

So, once I get it, I will start with the basics of power supply, checking voltages etc, and checking all the ribbon connectors - if anyone has any advice...

Are the replacement panels still available? Have a sneaking feeling I may need one.

Cheers!

Tom

Hi Tom, I literally just got mine this week from Paul, so I think he should still have them available :)

Chances are, once you install the membrane panel all you may have to do is hit lower function>tune to get the sound back.  A long time ago when I got my polaris it made no sound and a good tuning brought all the voices back to life.

One of my Polaris units has that problem-- usually gets worse when it hasn't been turned on in a while.
I typically turn it on/off and find it boots eventually (like after 17-25 tries).   Maybe try that to see if there are further problems before you deconstruct and/or do something that requires a full re-calibration?   I've been meaning to put a scope on the reset circuit but I did swap power supplies once and it didn't help.

Good luck!
