EPROM Programming problem

EPROM Programming problem

2017-01-24 by <sukhoy27@...>

Dear Paul ,
programming new Firmware Rev 9 and rev 11 , it doesn't work for my Polaris.
It is possible to have the Checksum ?
Must I recheck all the power supply Voltage before reinstalling the new Eprom ?
Should it be RAM Problem after " mamma mia "  30 Years ??

Best Regards .

Ciao

P.S. I use the M1 - UN DP48 programmer .As shown in the Photo Below .

RAM is quite reliable. However, different software versions locate things in different places in the RAM, so upgrading requires that you redo all the calibrations and reload your data. If the panel switches work but you're getting no sound, that is likely the problem. If the switches don't respond, then you could perhaps have mislabeled the EPROMs and inserted them in the wrong order. If it worked before the change, then it should work after the change.

The most common problem I used to see was customers not having the configuration correct for the 2764 vs. 27128 ROMs when Fender was sending the software updates for free… Two vs. 4 EPROMs. It’s in the service manual, but...

I think he's referring to jumper settings. But if you erase and reprogram the old EPROMs, that won't be an issue.

Dear John and Paul
thanks for help ! I Solved a strange problem :
The sound when playing from bank A 1 to the last tone bank, step by step became zero sound.
It were RAM .
I remove and  clean the socket ,and  RAM pin then reinstall,  and all is perfect.

I want to ask : Please when I change into new EPROM rev 9 or rev 11 must i Use only 2 EPROM and new 16K RAM, and then change the PIN/ Bridge nearest ?

Please where may i found detailed information .

Best regards .

CIAO !!!

In a very old instrument, dirty contacts can always be a problem. Glad you found it.

It doesn't matter whether you use two 16K EPROMs or four 8K EPROMs, as long as the jumpers are set correctly. If you already have four 8K EPROMs, you can continue to use them for a newer version, and leave the jumpers the way they are now.
