Bank switch freezes polaris

Bank switch freezes polaris

2016-02-16 by fuse@...

Hi,

Has anyone had this? When you switch banks the polaris freezes. But you can select programs in the bank that is selected. You can use midi program change though.
And when powered up the polaris doesn't always fully boot which may be related to the power being too low so you have to adjust the power regulator for that.

Cheers

When does the freeze occur, when you press the letter, or when you press
the subsequent number? Do all the other switches on the right side of the
panel work normally?

Hi Paul,

It stalled after pushing a bank button.
Besides switching it on did stall most of the time as well. Guess some part
in the power circuit is acting up.

After having opened the unit and pushed on some ICs and hooked it up to the
power again it blew a fuse.
So I guess I have to get it looked at by a professional. (Which I'm clearly
not)
Hopefully he can fix my mistake.

Hi,

Of course Paul D is the expert here. I had an idea that I wanted
to throw out:

If the reset threshold is not set correctly, could the supply dip enough when the CPU
gets busy responding to some button push to cause reset to glitch on?
Maybe not long enough to reset the CPU but long enough to mess it up?
Does that make any sense?

Bob

Yes, that's a common problem with the early power supplies. Which is why
there is a later rev of the supply that doesn't have a reset threshold
adjustment.

That wouldn't explain the blown fuse, but it's worth looking at anyway, if
the supply is the old one with the three trimmers.
