It lives

Wow, people are still here!
I recently found a cassette of the default patch settings. Hopefully
it works, although I won't be able to try it until Christmas,
probably. Anyway, is there a list of patches somewhere (in the manual,
perhaps)?
Thanks,
5-11under
P.S. Anyone feel like scanning a few noteworthy pages and uploading them?

Re: [chromapolaris] It lives

Yeah good to see some people writing about something here. I've been using
the Polaris for a few things of late. I have a couple pretty interesting
tracks, one where I just went off with the thing for a while on one and did
a more concise minute and a half thing using a solo line from a kawai sx-210
and drums over the top. I got one of these cheap new behringer big diaphram
mics and used it on the cymbals and the Chroma sound is an interesting two
oscillator fifth tone with some radical sounding glide work interleaving
with the pitch bending on the kawai. (That sideways springy bender works
good for this kind of thing). Fun stuff!
Another one from a few months back uses the a noisy sweep sound from
Polaris as fabric behind a roland mks70 chase sound and a variety of other
things like a strange string/harmonic growl sound from K5m, cello from
wavestation, K5000 bubblyswirly type sound sparsely laid in and a strange
space taxi from the Sequential 6-trak making a couple run by's. :-) I've
gotten "Good as anyting mannheim steamroller ever did" from some listeners
on it. The Polaris lends itself so well to so many things. Hope I get more
time to record this winter. Been working too hard too long on fixing
people's gear. Finally getting somewhat caught up so YEEEHAAA! -Bob

Polaris support in Emagic Sounddiver

2003-01-08 by fuse

Hi,

Emagic released a new Sounddiver (beta) recently. It now supports the
Polaris as well. So you can catalog your Polaris with a computer (and not
the Apple II)

Good news. :)

Cheers,

Fuse

Hey,
that sounds great, but what does it mean? you'll have to pardon my
ignorance but i'm kinda new to this vintage synth thing, and i dont
know about "cataloging my polaris with a computer," or its advantage
or anything
thanks

You can save your presets with use of this program.
Without having to use a tape recorder.
Also editting the parameters is a breeze now.

Cheers,
