Error in Chroma Polaris schematic

Error in Chroma Polaris schematic

2012-09-20 by Robert Weigel

While we're at it... at least for 300477 that I have here... they switch the pin numbers of the 4053 section that does the main /alt out switching and the sync switch. The other section appears right. Very irritating given how much trouble I've had with this. They just label 'out(N)' instead of telling you what IC the freaking pin goes to... then of course manage to mislabel the leads so you are wondering if there is impedence between or something when you finally find the channel switching IC31. Anyway I can't figure this one otherwise. I'll try to attenuate it a bit maybe. I mean it can't be the bit where it stores it or...it wouldn't work when you turn it back on right?

I think there may have been two versions of the board. They switched the
sections to move the output summing bus away from some noisy line, probably
NOISEGEN.

I figured maybe since they hacked the wire onto a pin sticking out sideways.. lol. But HEY I got the problem solved it appears... the vca discrepancies combined with something were the issue apparently. I have all 6 tuning now!

Could someone point out to me where this is and on which schematic? I'll fix it on the site.

Thanks,

Chris

This is as Paul noted probably a version change. They hacked a trace and put a wire to the 4053 (right next tot he vcf/vca chip) chip's pin 13 as I recall and just pulled 12 out of the socket and left it hanging on each channel....at least on the serial number I noted (which has now gone to Anthony Gerbino of Hauppauge NY if you want to update that in the registry btw. A very nice one with the cables modified. Thanks.)

Anyway on the same chip there which is Z... x07 or no x08 I think. The one that has the main/alt out switch function you see on the right of the analog board.

So in this version they swapped the pins numbers anyway of that function with the part of the chip shown in the middle of the analog schematic that does the sync function. (ie. grounds, when called upon to do so, the signal there.)
