Polaris parts

2012-09-18 by jleimseider

I did find my stash of Polaris sliders. I also have about a dozen of the original DACs, plus a lot of CEM3372 VCF/VCA chips. Let me know if you need any of them. The CEM3372's are on Ebay right now at $20 each plus shipping. The slide pots are $15 singly or $120 for a full set, plus shipping. I don't have any of the slider knobs. Thanks! JL

Hi John,

Thanks for the update on the parts you have available!

Regarding the slider knobs - I tried emailing chipforbrains (as per Paul's suggestion) regarding the purchase of some and unfortunately he did not reply. I take that to mean he doesn't have them either...

Does anyone else know where I might find one of these? one of mine is cracked.

sliders are $25 shipped. A full set is $135 shipped. I'm obviously
trying to sell sets, not singles because I have to go to the pst office
and it costs me more in time than I can make on the singles... I have a
lot of them... The singles will be shipped when I'm already atthe post
office with something else... Thanks, and sorry for my bad attitude...

Hi ,
I'm interested to change the ADC, DAC, and if possible the most importante CHIPs in the Polaris.

Are they still on eBay, on I need to buy here ?

Best regards .

The ADC is available from various distributors, like Digikey, but the DAC
may be hard to find.

But I don't think you should change chips, especially rare or expensive
ones, in the blind hope that one will magically fix your problem. The right
thing to do is to have a technician debug the problem properly, and figure
out what's wrong by analyzing the clues in the behavior.

I don't know any repair technicians in your area, but there must be someone
who is capable of understanding how the Polaris works, and who is
experienced with a scope and other tools. The service manual has good
descriptions. I know, I wrote them. Unfortunately, they're in English, so
you would need someone who can understand technical English.

Seat Paul ,
I follow your instructions , trying to we'll examine circuits and connectors !!!
It was the new Audio Jacks isolated from chassis replacing the old badly connected !!!!!!! Eh eh

I connect at first the jack without understand that the HIGH OUTPUT ones is a "switched jack" with normally closed contact ( T -> Ts )  . I do the work soldering again all the cables from output board to jacks , and now Polaris sounds fantastic !!!

Lower F  , D 4
Only R45 trim not work trying to turn clockwise and counterclockwise , the master volume LED don't light !!
Should it be ADC ??

In any case today I try to SCOPE ( Packard Bell ) all the signals from Polaris :) ..

THANK YOU PAUL FOR HELP
Ciao
