Polaris Rehab

2012-04-15 by i4ami4andz

Hi everybody. First post here.

I dug my Polaris out of storage about a month ago with the intention of getting it working. I've owned it for 25 years and have been storing it for about 10 years.

So far I have replaced all of the faders, replaced the quad-op amp chip, and replaced the key-combs. I've got process pics in the photos area. Feel free to hit me up with any questions you may have.

On the to-do list I still have the new panels to install and I have a memory expansion kit on the way. I also plan on doing a little cosmetic work on the body and making a new set of knobs for the faders.

I was hesitant to show the work I'm doing until everything was 100% operational but I see that a few members are having problems finding replacement faders so I thought I would share...though I don't know if they even work. IMO, working and testing are 2 different things. They do test correctly though. Try it at your own risk. My RAM chips are on a slow boat from China so it's going to be about a month before I attest to the work that I've done. If I'm happy with the way everything turns out, I will make my original faders available to those who need them. They are the white ones.

Little by little, this thing is coming together. The faders, the key-combs, the op-amp chip and the memory expansion are all improvements over the original so my Polaris should be pretty sweet when it's done. I will definitely keep y'all posted.

If you're looking for standard Polaris knobs, you can buy them from
Technology Transplant, chipforbrains@.... Just e-mail him and ask.
I've bought some from him, and they're fine.

Awesome! Thanks, Paul!
