Rhodes Chroma Polaris

I finally have been working on making link patches on my 
Polaris, but  I cant get the new links to STORE. I have some old 
links in bank 'K' from the factory or previous owner. I can erase 
them . I can create new upper/lower/unison links but when i try to 
store them it doesnt take.Ive been reading the manual and cant 
believe im missing the procedure.
       i can apparently do link edits , but they also dont STORE. The 
Lower function- 'store link'  LED flashes and goes out when i punch 
in the  new link location, but it wont take. 
       Now a year ago i had an allegedly 'pro' service place replace 
the non-working 'link unison' LED...{the unison functioned, but with 
no light-- i had bought the polaris that way from the previous 
owner}..Could this be related to my problem ? at that time i didnt 
test the link memory, because i was unfamiliar with my new toy and 
wasnt doing links. Now i think some connection is missing , any ideas 
out thete as to what connection this might be? some other 
troubleshooting tests,  or am I just messing up the Store Link 
procedure?

(led flashes)    4.  push 'store link' again-for same bank location  
(or send to new bank location) 5.Flashing 'store link' LED stops
