If you've got new EPROMs, use them. Whenever you change the OS, you have to do the full calibration procedure. And even if you change RAM chips, you have to do it with the batteries disconnected, so you have to do the full calibration procedure then too.

Sure. You just won't get any noise.

That's all you need. Try the auto-tune, and see if it succeeds or fails. There are things that could cause all channels to fail, but if some or all succeed then the instrument is probably in good shape. Then do the calibration.
