sub osc /1 question

sub osc /1 question

2009-05-10 by synthwick

Hello,
I built the sub osc 4 or 5 years ago, and am giving it a rehab. (redoing panels for a lot of modules)
Mine is wired as per the diagram on the website. I've never gotten much use out of the /1 (0 on the pcb) outputs. They never seemed to do much. So, I decided to look at it on my scope before I put it all back together. The /1 outputs for a and b are both just tiny pulses. /2 and everything further look to be about 50% square waves.

Is that right, or has there been something wrong w/ my sub osc all this time? Other than the /1 outputs, everything else seems to work as it should.

thanks!

I just want to add that I read the x2 outputs have a thin pulse. From what I can tell on the schematics, the x2 and the 0 (/1) are the same thing. If that is the case, I will just move to using /2-/16 (1-4 pads on the pcb)instead of /1-/8 (0-3 pads)for each channel.

And, if I'm right, then the /2 output is the squared output, because /1 (0 pad) is directly connected to x2....

But, i could be missing something obvious on the schematics, and be wrong about that.

(sorry, this is all very testable, but I finished taking my entire synth apart, power supply out, etc, earlier this morning to finish rehabbing it.)

Thanks again.

yes, the initial stage is a frequency doubler - and the outputs are a very
fine pulse. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but you can live without
them.
