Cynare kit building

2008-09-26 by alisynthmon

Hi, I'm new to this group having just purchased a MOTM format Catgirl
Cynare kit on Ebay. There were no assemby instructions or even a
schematic included. I have seen the Cynare page on the CGS site, but
it is not exactly the same. There is no mention of the optics which
are on the front panel.
Has anyone built one of these, or knows where I can get some
information?

Thanks in advance

Al

Sorry, I forgot to mention it is the Bridechamber kit. I emailed Tony
but haven't heard anything back. Does anyone have any construction
details on this module, I cant wait to build it.

I meant I emailed Scott, I was mixing him up with Tony from Oakley.
(yes my brain is a bit frazzled today!)

Hey Alistair and everyone, sorry for being MIA, but we just had our
baby boy here at home. He's healthy and (obviously) the most handsome
boy in the universe, but he has slowed me down just a bit : )
He's making some cool sounds too!

You can start the Cynare just like the CGS site says to. The only
differences are the rotary switch and the optic cells, but you can
still stuff the board like usual and wire up the rest of it the same
way. Hopefully I'll get more details to you before you finish that
much.

Oh, and you should have six extra resistors, which are for the Shimmer
section.

The Bridechamber kit is a bit different from the CGS one, it uses two
LDRs (light dependant resistor) which are not present in the CGS design.

Re: Cynare kit building

2008-10-02 by Scott Deyo

OK, the child is sleeping and I can get _something_ done before I
crash...

The filter switches are basically the same as the CGS rotary. The
middle lug of all switches are connected to FS, and the bottom lug of
each switch is connected to its pertinent PCB connection -- LP, HP and
BP.

The optic cells... I should draw up a diagram, but I would need to get
out my crayons. I'll try words first:
The on/off/on switch is connected sideways.
Thrown to the left, it connects optic cell one IN PARALLEL to the
largest Shimmer resistor.
Thrown to the right, it connects both optic cells, each in parallel to
the two largest Shimmer resistors.
So one leg of optic cell one goes to one side of the largest resistor.
The other leg goes to lugs one and three of the switch (if you're
counting them left to right, top to bottom from behind the panel).
Lug two of the switch is connected to the other side of the largest
resistor.
Optic cell two has one leg connected to one side of the second-largest
resistor.
Leg two of the 'cell is connected to lug 6 of the switch.
Lug 5 of the switch is connected to the other side of the
second-largest resistor.
Lug 4 of the switch has no connection.

The optic cells really are a lot of fun.
They are installed most easily by keeping the legs of the cells along
the longer tabs of the bezels.
Otherwise they're finicky to install.

I know, I'll catch up on documentation, really I will. The biz will
slow its growth-spurt soon, and I'll focus on all the stuff I should
have been focusing on up to now....

Re: Cynare kit building

if you could draw up a diagram, i would be so happy as this sounds
like a mod I would like to add to my cgs CYNARE which i havent built yet.

as it sounds like the LDR's are between the switches and the board (is
that correct) this COULD be done to a stock CGS board right? (you guys
didnt make a NEW bridchamber cynare pcb did you?)

thanks

I would also like the diagram and all if possible. I think the
description of the mods sound majorly cool.

Thanks in advance

Alrighty, the diagram is being uploaded to the site tonight.

And I don't know if I answered -- yes, we use stock CGS boards. You
could use six optic cells if you wanted, or you could use our VC
Resistor boards for voltage control!!!!! But that's crazy talk.
