tube noise source/random generator

aloha ken and folks!
i just wanted to drop a quick note that i had finished building the
tube noise source on the cgs site! i have been rebuilding my tube synth
to be baby safe and to be more like 1950s tube tech(been repairing hallicrafters).
anyway - some notes!
messed with several 2d21 tubes - and it's really alot of fun to mess around
with a magnet around it and hear the changes. but in the end i ended up using
a national 5696 and you know what? does not need a magnet - and makes a pleasent
and powerfull noise at about 180v - at any higher volts it will oscilate at extreme settings
of the 'filter/volume' pot - but wow! i can allmost feel the electrons rushing through
when you hear it
i used the 5696 tubes as part of my vcos as well - the site mentions they run at higher
frequencies than the 2d21 and may be less fat... they sound good to me - and just needed
some bigger caps ;) (switchable)
all the best
