panel graphics in a file format my Mac will read

2007-04-17 by celebutantemusic

Hey all...

New to the group, .com owner just getting into making my own modules (CGS kits via Elby
Designs).

I want to design my own panels; specifically I'm looking for the radial tic markings for a knob,
and maybe waveform icons (I could make those though). It seems everyone who makes their
own panels uses the Schaeffer Front Panel Designer software, but I'm a Mac guy, so I cannot.

Does anyone have a hi-res (at least 150 dpi, 300 would be best) graphic file that I can open
in Photoshop?

My other idea is to disassemble one my .com modules and scan it...

Thanks!

Mitchell

I've got a .Com tickmark graphic I can send. Keep reminding me; it's on my work computer :)

Are you a member of the Synth Modules group? They are .Com owners in support of other designs in that format. Someone from that list sent it to me.

There is a mechanical drawing of the panels at the .Com site, as well as info on font type and such. Maybe a metal fabricator and painter/ silkscreener local to you could do it. My company, The Bridechamber, will be coming out w/ .Com CGS designs, but it will still be a few months, it seems.

Cheers,
Scott

While I want panels in MOTM format, I have similar issue -- I can't
seem to find a way to get panels without building a Windows machine.
In fact, it seems one can't even get prices from Front Panel Express
without using the the Front Panel Designer software. So even if I
already have an .fpd file, there is nothing that I can do with it.

Unfortunately, http://www.stoogepanels.com/ is not up and running yet.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks, it'll help. My e-mail is mitchell at celebutantemusic dot com
(just being paranoid about e-mail fishing!)

I already found all the font and size info on the .com site, so I'm cool there.

Since I don't pretend to know my way around silkscreening, I'm probably just going to do
it ghetto-style and laser print black with white letters on big Avery sticker paper, carefully
cut and then maybe spray some clearcoat. My modular will probably never leave my
studio, so this will probably be ok.
