Sequential switch gate out problem

2008-08-16 by lexvortex

Hi,

I just finished my sequential switch using Bridechambers panel with
extra holes drilled for LEDs and a mix gate out. I have yet to
connect the glide and length switch. Everything works great except
the gate outs that work rather sporadically.
I have the the panel set up so that the gate outs are all mixed down
to one common output with a switch at each stage to turn it on or off.
The set up is like this (I used IN1418 diodes):

I can get the mix gate to trigger every second step, but if I turn all
of the steps on then nothing gets triggered (I measured the voltage
and it's a constant 5V). I have the same problem with the individual
gate outs too, if I plug every second jack then it triggers my Blacet
EG fine but if I plug every jack then nothing.
I used a rather small gauge wire to hook up the gates (I think
28-30AWG), it looks like a computer harddrive cable, I used it because
I thought it would make for a cleaner design. Maybe the casing on the
wire is too thin or the wire is too thin and it's picking up
interference from something, I have no idea really. Any suggestions
would be appreciated,

Thanks again,
Dave
