BC Manager moved from Yahoo group's file section

BC Manager moved from Yahoo group's file section

2008-12-27 by Mark van den Berg

Hi everyone,

I've moved BC Manager and "BC MIDI Implementation.pdf" from the Yahoo
group's file section to http://mntn-utils.110mb.com.
The Yahoo group's file section now contains placeholder text files
that simply refer to the mntn-utils website.

At the mntn-utils website these files are more easily available to the
many people who don't want to become members of the Yahoo group.
And now that these files are commonly available via mntn-utils, there
is no reason to keep mirrors in the Yahoo group's file section: that
would only make it harder to keep everything synchronized.

Note: of course the moved files are still the old versions, but new
versions will be made available at the mntn-utils website "soon".

Finally a request: can someone in possession of the proper access
rights please update the references to these files at the BC2000 wiki
site at pingdynasty.com?

Mark.

Hm, as I've explained earlier this week I'm a novice at maintaining
websites, but it might have been because I was logged in to the
"Website Builder" (editing the website) during the last few hours.
I've logged out now, so try again - if it still doesn't work, it's
something else and we'll need more expert help...

If the message people are seeing is "Warning - This copy of Website
Builder is licensed for another domain", I think the problem is simply
as follows.

When you click on the URL in Mark's message via Yahoo, it goes to the
URL "http://mntn-utils.110mb.com./" -- which has a stray trailing
period (full stop) due to its original context in Mark's message. This
causes the error message to appear.

However, if you just go to the URL without the trailing period,
i.e. "http://mntn-utils.110mb.com", you don't get the message and all
is well. You can bookmark this correct URL and avoid the problem.

Happy New Year!

Well spotted, Stewart!

In my original reply I assumed that it was due to some locking problem
because I had been logged in to the Website Builder for several hours,
but you're absolutely right - how silly that Yahoo works like that! Or
maybe it's "standard"behavior, I don't know... Anyway, I'll try to be
even more careful in the future when I mention web links.

Thanks!
Mark.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
