Looking for a new controller.

Looking for a new controller.

2008-08-10 by Ray

Hi everyone, Ray here from Holland.

I'm new to this group and do not yet own the BCR2000 but i'm seriously
thinking about it.

I have a Keystation pro 88 and am tired of the pots jumping to other
valeus in vst plugins. I want to buy a controller to tweak vst
plugins, i want the pots to be be touch sensitive so they are always
in the same position on the hardware as on the software. I also want
to be able to switch vst plugins and not have to reprogram the
hardware and software. I have read something about Mackie Emulation
that might do that.

So far i am thinking to get the BCR2000 and was wondering if anyone
can share their experience with me.

So far i have also looked at the Novation Zero SL but it only has a
few endless rotary encoders and faders i don't need ( i have a
Alphatrack for controlling my DAW.

Any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Ray

PS. I am using Ableton Live.

BCR2000 uses endless rotary encoders with LED rings around them.
You could make presets to control different VST plugins.

Ray,

Quite a wish list you have there! Unfortunately it might be a tough
list to accomodate. The BCR does have endless encoders, but they are
not actively monitoring the settings of your VSTi's, so upon
initialization, you will have a CC jump until you sync up the
parameter and the knob. As far as I know, the Mackie Emulation
suffers from the same fate. I have been controlling numerous synths
and Cubase using different User created presets, and this has never
been an issue, however. I usually sync the parameters up before
recording. You can also create a template in your vST'i that is
already synced with the settings of you BCR, REALLY easy to do!
Simply have all your knobs on the BCR synced, and save a preset in
the VSTi (I'd Call it BCR default), and store the preset on you BCR
and no CC jumping! Unless you change patches that is....
