Exactly, .default is the starting point for the controller

If you want to output the values of all the controls when you change
to that preset use 
.snapshot on
 in the
$preset
section.

When you change from one BC preset to another the current values are
remembered and are returned to the controls when you reselect that
preset. The .snapshot outputs theses values and that should sync your
synth.

You can send a snapshot at any time by holdig  "EDIT" and pressing 
"<PRESET"

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
