S1100 loaded samples are clicking and somehow defect

Hello,
as a long time sampler user i finally decided to give an Akai Rack Sampler a try ... I bought a 2nd hand S1100(OS 4.3 , 9MWord) in good condition.

I started to become familiar with the OS and sampled some analog sounds and field recordings and checked the FX etc.

The sound of the unit is really nice“ and creamy (especially transposing) and totally different from all the negative experiences i had with newer AKAIs (MPC 1000/2500). I found it a bit similar to my old MPC 3000 but it has really its own sound.

So i decided to keep it.

I replaced the backlight and inserted a IDE to SCS-I (ACard) bridge with an IDE CF card reader + a 1GB Card into the unit.

I set the SCSI ID to 5 and tried to Format the CF Card.
Format does not work. So i tried "ARR" which seemed to work fine and finished without any bad blocks.

If i now safe a fresh sample and reload it i can hear noticeable annoying clicks within the samples.

Strangely the names of the samples & programms, FX settings are all stored and loaded fine...

If i try to use the DD recorder function it stops with an Hard Disk Write Error after aprox. 4 seconds..

Questions:

- Do i need Termination ON or OFF on the internal Drive?
If yes, does the AKAI needs Termination Power?

- Should i try to Format the CF card with my PC First?
  (maybe with akaitools?)

- Is it okay to "ARR" with 17 partions a 24 MB?

or Is this a known problem with other Drives or CF Cards and there is an other solution?

Any help is appreciated.

Kind regards,
BB
