Adding CompactFlash reader in place of Floppy + Internal Drive?

2007-07-08 by mlcsixand78s

Hi,

I'm actually a CD3000XL owner and user. I posted the info below
on the S3000XL group but I thought I would share it here.

Some of this might (just might) be relative to S1000s etc.

Has anyone dealt with anything similar below? It seems that the
CompactFlash drive could work in other samplers.

-----------------------------my post from S3000XL group--------
I found some interesting links where some have installed CompactFlash
card readers in their samplers. It appears to be fairly easy.
Has anyone else done this with any of the S series samplers (S1000 up
to S3000XL?
I just got a CD3000XL and having a CompactFlash reader seems interesting.

Also I was wondering if its possible to have 2 internal HDs in a
sampler? For example, my CD3000XL has one already. Could a second one
be added inside? Could it be linked up in a SCSI chain internally?
There sure is enough room inside of my CD3000XL. Has anyone tried
this? Gee, having a CompactFlash reader (instead of floppy) and 2
internal HD would be nice... or is it wishful thinking?

The reason I ask is that the Akai manual says that my sampler can be
linked to more that one HD or samplers...
I'm new to this so I'm learning, but I was thinking that if there are
2 internal HDs with different ID then one could switch from one to the
other... (like switching from CD to HD by changing the ID...)

Also this person installed a HD in the 2000. This I would like to
get more info on.
