I am a drummer from Germany who wants to use his new 1100 for >Live Drumming. Now I got one question for you. Hope you can help me.. Maybe... >My 1100 is connected to a ME35T Trigger Interface to which my Drumpads are connected. Which pads ? >Now I want to start a two-bar Drumloop with one of my pads by just hitting it once. 1st : Im not a drummer and dont have the ME35T. 2nd: I suppose the ME35T creates midi-note-events w/ velocity values from your pads trigger impulses, .- isnt it ? >I know, I can do this by setting the parameter "TYPE OF PLAYBACK" in the ED.2 Page to >"PLAY SAMPLE TO ENDE". "To End" you mean, - Hamburger... :-) >So now the two-bar Loop is playing, when I hit the pad. But after >the Akai has played this Drumloop once, he stops, because in this parameter mode, the >akai does not accept any loop points in the sample. Right, - but the AKAI accepts loop-points in the sample if "type of playback" is set to "AS SAMPLE" ( means w/ loops ). >How can I get the Akai to play this >two-bar Drumloop in cycle..? Normaly the AKAI S-1xxx series "cycles" looped samples as long a midi note is held. Note-on starts the loop and note-off ( or note-on /vel=0 ) stops it. >I know I can set loop points and set the parameter "TYPE OF PLAYBACK" to "LOOP IN RELEASE". All "type of Playback" commands are part of the "Program Edit Mode". In "Sample Edit Mode" you can define 8 different loops in ONE sample. This definitions will play back if the "Type of Playback" in "Program Edit Mode" is set to "AS SAMPLE". ( S-1100 manual V1.0 page 40 ) - do you have it ? >So now, when I start the Drumloop via an MIDI- >Keyboard, the two-bar Drumloop plays in cycle. But just as long as I hold the key on the >keyboard. Thats the normal way, the S-1000 / S-1100 handles loops of samples. If you work p.ex. w/ a midi-sequencer, the loop plays as long a note is sustained and stops playing if the note is been released. This is how it should, - normaly. >I cant do this with drumpads of course, because of the nature of drumpads. >I just can hit it once (or twice o.e..) My wish is to get the Akai play this drumloop in cycle by >just hitting the pad once.. Is there any chance..? Your pad w/ ME35T only creates a "note-on" event AFAIK ( cause drum samples are "one-shots" normaly ), so the only chance is to setup the S-1100 to the "AS SAMPLE" mode. I this case the S-1100 will play a predefined number of loops ( max. 8 ) each in a different way. The "duration" parameter in this mode defines how often each loop will play until the next loop starts and when the last loop will end. This parameter is somewhat "limited". Actually I cant check if theres a "infinite" duration setting at all. My S-1100 died unfortunally and I never needed this playback-mode cause Im a keyboardist. I wonder, - if there would be a "infinite" duration setting,- how would you stop the loop at the end of a song live ??? :-) This would be the main prob IF any "infinite" parameter for loop-playback would / will exist, - I fear. Maybe the Midisolutions Midi Event Processor will do the trick ( if the "AS SAMPLE" wont ). It can act as a midi toggle-switch. http://www.midisolutions.com/products.htm Download the programming software demo from their website and check if there are programming possibilities for your demands before you buy. On way could be: If you hit your pad 1st, a SUSTAINED "midi note on" event will be created, playing the loop "TO END" or/and "AS SAMPLE" w/ infinite repetition UNTIL you hit the pad AGAIN, which will create the necessary "midi note-off" event to stop the loop at any time you want. Because most of the Midisolutions boxes deal w/ midi only, this toggle-functionality regarding to "midi-note on" and "off" events MUST be programmable per midi-channel AND midi note number ( the midi channel and note of the pad which shall perform the toggle-switch and create the "sustained" note-on-event ). IF the Event Processor is doing this, the box must be placed between the midi-out of the ME35T and the midi-in of the S-1100 AND the box has to leave ALL other midi-notes and midi-channels of your other pads triggers and midi-events being sent out of your M35T, - unprocessed !!! Otherwise ALL your pads will or would act as a "midi-toggle-switch"! If you are not shure about the functionality of the Midisolutions MEP after reading the infos and checking out the software, mail to Midisolutions support. Youll get an answer after some hrs/days. They do custom services also and you can order a device been programmed by factory for your demands. If the MEP ( and the S-1100 in combination ) is doing all this above in standard version, you can order it at Thomann ( not all products )... http://www.thomann.de/smb_suche.html?sn=ae903520c2d9021a727e92c8d61bc24e&SUB JECT=KOMFORTSUCHE&PAGE=1&SEITE=1&MAINPAGE=1&SUCHBEGRIFF=Midisolutions&x=13&y =10 Amptown distributed these boxes, but Im not shure they do actually, - ask for it. http://www.amptown-music.de/ Hope that helps, and... B.t.w., - ... Im a "Hamburger" too.. :-) >Thanks for your help >Greetings from Hamburg >Johhny Flash dto., -... Johhhhhhny Cash P.S.: If nothing helps and you want to get rid of your S-1100, - Im the one ( need a fully functional digital-board ). If you ( will ) need some additional midi-accessories ( youll see ) to get your setup working ( depends on the functionalizy of the MEP ), - Im the one too. I have midi-thrus, mergers and processors/ matrisses in stock, - used but in excelent condition. cheers,...
