Hi Paul,

I take it some of those CD-Rom's are homemade for the ESI-32?

The easiest way to get Wavs into samplers is to use Chicken Systems Translator:-

http://www.chickensys.com/

for the ESI-32 specifically it is possible to use a free program called ESI-Win to dump wav files to it.

With regard to scsi I use an Adaptec 2960UW PCI card on the PC which I've never had a problem with recognizing the ESI32 but I run XP SP3 on my PC so not sure how it would work on 7,my Mac hasn't got SCSI fitted but I think there are drivers for PPC Macs for the card,I'd have a quick look on Adaptec's site for the full list of drivers if thinking about buying one, they are about on ebay.
Also remember to set your scsi device numbers seperatly for each device, the PC/Mac will have one of it's own as will the ESI32 and the Akai's.

When it comes to the S220 you can transfer samples to it (inc wav) using Wavelab on the PC via Midi Sample Dump you can actually do the same with your other samplers but will take a very long time if a big file prob only practical for the S220 coz of small ram,the other solution of course is to find a Midi Data Filer which uses 3.5" floppies I think Alesis made one,you can actually get those 2.8" Quickdiscs working but I'd imagine too expensive and a waste of time unless you have mountains of discs.

Hi Jason,

I have a CD-Rom on my ESI-32, what samples do you have for it. I also have a HD (540MB or something like that) that has the ESI D-70, 01/W Collection2, Stereo Grand, Trigger Funk, Synth Mania, D-70 Collection 2, Vintage Combo, Rythm Section, Techno Shop, Orchestral, Analog Pro 1 and SY85 Collection 1. Also have Roland SOLO Synth (but only dsk 1), Marimba 1 (v-mix), JP-8 Brass & Strings 1, Electric Orgam 3,4 and Vibraphone 1,2, but these are all on those pesky 2.8" Roland disks and I can't read them.

I have 2 Akai S2000 (one I fitted a HD into), Roland S-220 (Bad 2.8" drive), EMU ESI-32, EMU XL-1 turbo, EMU Proteus FX, EMU Percussion module and a 360 Systems Professional MIDI BASS. Along with 4 effects unit (and 1 Peavey Ultraverb II I just got the schmatics of Peavey for {these are nice people}).

Having said all that I can not get them to talk to either my PC or MAC via SCSI (Windows 7 or OSX 10.4.11).

I use a ZIP 100 drive and a Syquest 1.5GB drive both work on the SCSI flawlessly. As well as the SCSI CD-ROM (Toshiba old MAC unit) and the Akai which I fitted a HD into using the for 3000XL only pins.

Can you give me any i nformation on getting WAV onto any of these samplers, with out using the ANALOG inputs.

Paul.

Hi Kev,

Welcome to the group.
How are the 44mb Sy-Quests bearing up? I use a Zip,external 500mb HD and an external CD-Rom with my S5000 but I have always wondered what the Sy-Quest's were like.
My friend had an S1100 sounded a nice machine certainly sounds better than the stock S5000.

I used to have an X7000 my first sampler if you don't include an Atari ST cart I liked it but those stupid 2.8inch microdiscs did my head in,also that seperate out cable was a pig 13pin din I think always kept having to resolder that.

Do you know what type of samples your S1100 can import because I have a CD-Rom I can upload to you with lots of old analogue drum machine samples I made for my ESi32 which the S5000 loads not sure about S1100 or S3000XL?

I used to have a TR505 too, basically sounds a bit like a 707 with a couple of 727 latin percussion sounds I used to love the rubbery kick drum.

love the sound of Akai samplers, especially this one, the FX sound really nice.

Keen but just got on the learning curve with CF/SD storage with IDE/SCSI, bridge/card reader.

2x X7000 keyboards /with memory and OS upgrades.
2x S3000XL triggered by tr626 and tr505 to get closer to tr808/tr909
S1100
