uh.... yea./....... I'm here... just on the nod for awhile. this sounds like
a great idea. I have hours worth of stuff from about '96 up to last year.
Stuff that was recorded when the system was just 3 panels and then of course
when it got larger and then....and then.... it ate my house.
I haven't had much time this last year for compostitions. I foolishley
joined a electronics band summer of '00.. ( damn... I'm old enough to know
better huh? ) LOL and then i moved into new digs this last summer/fall. The
studio is just now getting back on it's feet. Just spent a few weeks with
Dave Fulton(Dweller at the Threshold) mastering my first release. Haven't a
clue when or if it will be released. I'm waiting to see if the lable Pres.
likes it or not. Ha Ha... some of the stuff is pretty old and the sonic
quality bites. Back in '96 when i first started building this system I had
the annoying habit of recording to cassette live on the fly 'cause all i
wanted to do was to have something interesting to listen to in the car. I got
tired of Dave beating me up so i got a couple ADATS and he still beats me
up.!!! Hashahaha.
Gee... I'm rambling.... sorry... sure!!!... I'm up for a compilation or
????? Let me know fi i can help. I'm pretty computer illiterate, so spare me
the virtual jive and just show me the hardware baby!!!!
Hahahaha
Kind regards
John DuVal

Hello Mr. DarkStar,

You have to watch out for Dave. Nuthin' but trouble.

So I see you're getting a mixer-only panel. Do you mind telling me which
modules you chose for it?

I've been meditating on an old Serge VCA diagram. I'm hoping to cobble
something together similar to the UAP... got the basics figured out. I
feel that animated mixing/crossfading is really missing from my system.

Say, if you'd be up for it sometime, I'd be into trading a CD with you.
From what Dave tells me about your music, you might find what I do
interesting.

ROmeo

It took me awhile to realize the importance and utter necessity for mixers
and crossfaders in my system. As a consequence, i have Mix2's and crossfaders
strewn all across my system. I have one panel that is just a QVM and a
Matrix Mixer and some XFads and some Quadratures.
One of the panels that is being built now has the following:
QVM/XFad/XFad/Mix2/ADSR/ADSR/QUO/QUO
this may not make much sense unless you see where it sits in the system.
Because of the size of this thing, I've broken down into sections that have
certain functions(more or less). The last section will have a two panel
Mixer/VCA function.
These two panels will sit on top of each other with the following
configuration.
Top panel, left to right:
Mix2 / XFAD / Mix2 / XFAD / XFAD / XFAD / XFAD / XFAD / QUO / QUO / QUO
Lower panel left to right:
QVM / ADSR / DSG / NCom / ADSR / QVM
again, this might not make much sense untill you see where it sits and in
fact, the bottom panel is still being massaged so to speak.
I like to swing things around alot so the XFADs and Quadratures are
prominent in my system.
So there ya have it. It's pretty basic. I don't have any specific needs
that would call for any Mods in the mix/output section. I have a couple
simple mods in the generator and Oscillator sections but that's it.
