New 8 panel pics

2010-06-30 by BooleanYulian

Hey everyone..

As my kit's finally reached the desired maturity (8 panels), I decided it was finally time to make the move and get a fitting for a custom wooden suit.. and after scouting around for a long time to find the right person for the job, I made the plunge.. and folks, I could not be happier.

I've posted some initial pics in the Photo section in the album entitled New 8 panel cabinet (...duh!!! :)..

The setup consists of two asymmetrical cabinets (mirror image of each other) made of Black Walnut and treated with many coats of oil (I originally wanted something like Wenge or dark Ipe but it would've busted my allocated budget.. the Walnut is the next best thing for about half the cost). The cabinets are designed to be stacked side by side and look seamless (allowing for the top be used as a single "shelf" without ending up with a "lip" in the middle). The back is mostly open and the closed part houses the PSU XLR connectors. The PSDs are screwed to the cabinet's floor. The panels are fixed in place from the inside, so that no screws are visible on the outside; it was a bit of a job to do that as we had to remove the faceplate and guts, mount the boats and then re-install the whole enchilada... but it was definitely worth it!! :).. I'm thinking of eventually adding some wrist rests; I'm thinking maybe leather or hide hehe

Thanks for looking and hope you enjoy!

Yulian

Yulian,

What a proud papa! Beautiful workmanship on the cabinets, love the wood color - and of course, amazing system too. Very nice indeed! Now about that leather... ;-)

Cheers -- Bill

Wow! That's are some awesome cabinets! You did a really good job on the workmanship.

p.s. sorry about the spam the other day. China hacked my Google account. Perhaps those 2 will start a World War one day...
