Serge modules to complement a large Modcan system (or vice versa)?

2008-12-01 by circlingkailas2002

Hi everyone - I rarely post, but would appreciate any good suggestions. I have a large
Modcan/Cyndustries modular (40+ modules) that includes all the basics including
sequencers (Milton and Modcan), frequency shifter, several filters and many of the newer
Modcan modules. The sequencers are complemented with quantizers, pulse dividers, analog
switches, clocks. All the key capabilities are covered in this system.

I have always been intrigued with Serge, and would like to invest in modules/panels that
would complement or add a unique addition to my existing modular. From reading, I am
assuming that modules like SSG, DSG would be interesting. M- or full shop panels a
possibility. What is your recommendation on 1-2 shop panels that would really add
something to the core Modcan/Cyndustries systems?

Finally, how do I order these things?

Thanks

Hi,

I did the opposite; started with a fairly large Serge and added a
little Modcan to it. Yes, the SSG and DSG are endlessly useful. I use
the DSGs slightly more. I don't have enough Modcan to compare
everything but the Wave Multipliers are a must. I don't know how they
compare to Modcan's model 06 but it's a triple module with two very
different multiplier/folder type circuits plus a handy section that's
essentially a VCA with optional overdrive (mild clipping). I like all
of the Serge filters very much. To my ears they lean towards a more
acoustic sound as opposed to the snarly edgy kind of thing (that
doesn't mean you can't make raucous noise too). Oh, by all means buy a
TKB!

You have to call Rex, he doesn't do internet. Find his number at the
"serge fans" site. Google is your friend, for that kind of thing anyway.
