nope.

prices are high because a lot of time & labor is spent testing the parts
before they go into anything,
and the technicians go through a long training before anything they do
goes into a unit for sale.

Compare an STS era Serge's bandwidth, dynamic range, parametric range,
parametric accuracy, and so on to anything else that's out there.

If you don't care to push your instrument's limits, or have the
instrument challenge *your* limits, then by all means, go cheapy.

LOL. . . . having had a whole bunch of those "cheapee" modules the answer. . .after howling with laughter is. . . .uh........... no.
It takes roughly three months of training before Rex will even let a newbie start assembling. . . maybe.
    Blow away a Serge. . . . ? dude. . . please.
    kind regards

    My Serge Website Update...

    2008-08-17 by James

    Hi Everybody,

    Just a quick note...

After a spate of nasty weather and piles of paperwork, I _finally_ had a
chance to update my M-Class page:

    http://www.carbon111.com/m_class.html

Rex is releasing these faster than I can keep up ;)

With the long-desired addition of a TKB to my personal system I'm
currently reworking my overview page to include it. I am absolutely
    LOVING my TKB!!!

Also, my "Alphabet Soup" installment on the DSG is well under way now
and will be added to my other Serge pages in a matter of days...its not
so much writing as *re-writing* over and over to make certain my
descriptions are clear to novice and pro alike.
Once that's complete, I m planning on a TKB installment.

Any feedback, positive or negative, on the current condition of my Serge
    pages is always most welcome:

    Best Regards, James

A huge public service, & looks great!
I wonder if it might be helpful to attach prices and additional samples where possible?

Thanks Don!...its a labor of love. I'm just trying to create the kind of
resource I always wanted to have when I was learning.

    > I wonder if it might be helpful to attach prices and additional
    samples where possible?

The Serge-Fans site will always be the best place to find the price
lists and lots of other GREAT information:
    http://www.serge-fans.com/
...I think my site is more of a "cousin" to their site where I can
display information in a more anecdotal format and do my own little
hands-on reviews as I've done with other synthesizers on other parts of
carbon111.com. I'd have been completely lost all these years without
their wonderful resource - my utmost thanks goes out to Les Mizzel & Co. !

As far as "samples" go, I have some WAV files on my Creature page as,
like the Animal, it can function as a self-contained entity. I'm not
certain how useful raw waveforms or filter sweeps, etc. would be though
I may post some WAV examples of certain patches in my Alphabet Soup
series...I'll have to think about it.

So many possibilities, so little time. I have to go finish building
storage shelves in my garage now. :)

    Very Best Regards, James

    Yes indeed, thanks James!
I have you and your site to thank for getting me back into the serge w/ your creature
    page.
Let us know as you update.

    Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
