Introduction / Current Serge catalog?

Introduction / Current Serge catalog?

2008-08-13 by ih8ims

Hi all,

My name's Ty, and I'm new to the list so I thought I'd introduce
myself. My main synth is a fairly large (66-space) custom
synthesizers.com modular, and I also make regular use of a Moog
Voyager and a full complement of Moogerfoogers. I've been intrigued
by the Serge system for some time, and now that my dotcom system is
near "complete" (is it ever...?), I've been thinking about moving
into Serge territory in order to expand my pallete with a system
that is different enough in approach and sound to justify the
endeavor. Plus it's just fun to buy new gear. ;) I have a couple
releases out under the name square_wave, and they can be previewed
here:
http://cdbaby.com/found?allsearch=square_wave&submit=search

The other part of my intro here is actually a request for info.
From my poking around it seems one needs to call STS in order to
request a catalog. I left a message there today, but I thought I'd
ask here if someone can post a PDF of the latest catalog? If it's
not appropriate to ask that, my apologies...

Thanks!
ty

i don't believe there is a printed catalog. for info on the available
panels is on http://www.serge-fans.com/wizardry.htm, specifically the
m-class and shop panels links. the other links will give you
additional information on the individual modules.

Hey Ty,

Welcome to SMOG.

For current pricing, it’s always best to talk to Rex. If you’ve left him a msg he will surely call you back in a timely manner. He’s a very professional chap and takes the SERGE thing quite seriously. It’s also a good idea to consult Rex on choosing the right combination of shop panels or m-odules. His tech insight is quite deep and eduactional (at least for me:)

As aformentioned by a fellow user, a good starting point is to familiarise yourself with the available products, namely the ShopPanels ( http://www.serge-fans.com/images.html ) by clicking on their names (Animal, RedVoice, RedCV1, SoupKitchen, etc..) or here: http://www.serge-fans.com/shop.html and the M-odules ( http://www.serge-fans.com/m-class.html ).. Here you will actually see the pricing for these M-Class modules (M=Mega).. To get an idea of what every Cell (section of a given M-odule; DSG, NTO, PCO, etc..) does, consult the Wizardry pages.

Our friend James here gathered some interesting resources that have helped me quite a bit (thank you James:).. Check these out:

http://www.carbon111.com/sergebook.zip
http://www.carbon111.com/serge1982.pdf

.. Should you have any quesitons, feel free to ask
Y.

I believe the last printed catalog along with price list was in '03 but seein' as how only M class and selected shop panles are being produced, the catalog and price list are of limited use now. I think i still have an old catalog somewhere unless i shipped it out to a former list member.
Haven't talked to Rex in awhile about this kinda stuff so what I'm saying may not be accurate. Our conversations center more around fishing and blues records these days. LOL

I'm in!

2008-12-04 by ty hodson

Hey all,

My first Serge M-odule arrived this week (an incredible 4 business days after I mailed the check!), and I’ve added a couple pics to the SMOG Photos page here:
http://tinyurl.com/5ly2j7

Thanks for the initial pointers for information, and thank you Rex for a solid few hours of over-the-phone guidance, anecdotes and analogies. ; )

Can’t wait to get the next one, but man… choosing it is going to be wicked tough!
