Great Improvements of the Serge Triple Osc M-odule.

Great Improvements of the Serge Triple Osc M-odule.

2008-08-09 by Bakis Sirros

via Rex Probe himself:

"about the new NTO & PCOs:

The VC FM index on the NTO is now linear with no base line pitch shift

The SYNC inputs work much better, with the points of tuning between the
master & slave optimized. The sync 'grab' is now much 'deeper' into the
harmonics.

The portamento section of the NTO is much smoother with lower harmonic
distortion and better linearity.

Because of many improvements to the circuit associated with the SINE output,
the sonic purity is greatly improved and with it the swept sine into the FM
inputs
sounds great!

All the waveform outs on both the NTO & PCO have much improved sonic
characters. Lower harmonic distortion, lower intermodulation distortion,
lower phase noise, improved bandwidth linearity and improved jitter -- all
without compromising their analog (phat) tonal richness!"

These sound like great improvements.
Makes me wonder:

Is it possible to have older NTOs and PCOs
(mid 1990s Oakland system) updated ? I
am the first owner of this panel, for what
it's worth.

Have there been improvements to other modules,
and can these be added to older panels ?

Are the improved NTO and PCO found in the Animal
Panel, or only in the Triple Osc ?

Thanks in Advance to anyone who can answer.

I believe that the Mixers, Universal Audio Processor and DCSM, as well as the VCFQ have all been improved considerably and these changes have been rolled into the shop panels like the Animal.

i've had my triple oscillator m-oudule for over a month now and I can say without
hesitation it's the saber tooth cat's meow. FM is incredible + the portamento in, on the
NTO, is a much overlooked beauty. If I get a chance tonight I'll try to do a review w/ some
exx. but in short this collection of trip-osc gems are a sonic motherload at the top of the
mark!

bonjour group....
too bad, still, no hard sync...one would think with the acclaimed engineering and the manifold improvements made since Serge left the biz, that Hard sync might be made available.
Woes me

I am not understanding this... I thought it always was linear with no
pitch shift.
That's what linear FM is for.
