RE: [SergeModular] how close is the serge to the buchla soundwise?

cray,
a friendly word of warning. i had ordered and paid for a quad-LPG from cyndustries at the end of 2004. after months of non-delivery & excuses, Cyndi finally told me her old design was defective, and that she needed to do a redesign at some unspecified time. i wound up cancelling the order. apparently, her redesign is still in the works.
instead, i built one using Mark Verbos's PCB desgin (http://www.simple-answer.com/DIY.html), it works well and sounds sweet. i also have both of the in-production Wiard filters, which are Vactrol based... also, great sounds, and Grant was prompt and professional in terms of shipping when promised.
i can't say anything about comparisons to a buchla, since i've never had an opportunity to play one. i do use them w/ my serge rack, and it's a happy collabaration.
FWIW, my dealings with cyndi left a pretty sour taste, although i understand others have had good experiences. I would really like a zero-osc, frinstance... but would only consider buying from her if she had a completed unit in stock, un-spoken for and ready to ship on reciept of payment... just my $.02
