banana (serge) to 1/8" (doepfer, blacet)
2002-10-22 by peter
dear serge friends,
sorry for the cross posting, i am not sure where to ask this, and i am
going slightly crazy, having so many nice toys but i'm not sure of how to
connect things together safely and with a mind to avoiding any loops (of
course!) and minimize hum. (eventually, when i have a lot of time, i'll do
a full star-ground network.) an answer for from an AHer is appended. i was
wondering if someone could explain this to me, assuming i am quite stupid
(which i don't think i am, but i'm just so desperate to learn this, and to
get my system running so i can compose; i'm not so obsessive about DIY
things, just want to compose and maintain a simple, unique studio, but
i've hit a hurdle... in which case i am happy to appear stupid, or at
least eat some technical humble pie.). i presume "ground" here means
chasis ground, not that i even have a chasis ground (to my knowledge...
how do i conjure one of these? i don't use a mixing board).
thanks in advance; please be patient or tolerant with this struggling
soul... too many things are going wrong right now, perhaps it is the full
moon. and... if anyone knows where i can find banana to stripped 1/8"
cables (assuming i just need to have on conductor wire to solve this), i'd
appreciate such a hint. and where to get cheap stackable (not necessarily
differently colored) banana cables (i'm dead poor).
thanks again,
peter w

Stone me if I am wrong n this, but if Peter were to just connect the
grounds together of the two power supplies (D and S) wouldn't this serve
the same purpose? then he could just have the grouns on the banana end
floating, or only use a one conductor wire to begin with, with no ground
