hope your putting your sleep deprivation to good use
by working with
your
Serge till all hours of the night LOL.
Glad this thread is over....jeeeez. Wish I'd been
able to generate
this
much traffic with my panel sale... yuk yuk yuk.....
har har
Kind regards

Hi John et al,

Well I am starting to get caught up on my sleep, but I
have to confess that I don't have a Serge. I do know
at least 5 Serge owners, 2 former owners and am able
to hang and jam with 2 Sergeons on a regular basis.
Heck, I even contributed a track to the up coming User
Group Compilation that I recorded on a commandered
Serge while on vacation in San Francisco in February
of 2001.

So yes, I love the Serge. Unfortunately the startup
price is too steep for my economically challenged
life. I don't think that the Serge is too expensive
for what you get, rather economical in fact. The
admission price is just too much, buying all the
modules together in a single panel in one fell swoop.
My maximum purchase prices for equipment have been
$1700, $1400 and $1000 for 3 different purchases.
Most of you probably know that a Serge panel starts at
around $3000 average. So I just haven't got to that
point yet... Depending on how long Rex wants to keep
this going, I could see getting into a panel in maybe
3-5 years. I would get a signal processing panel,
since I love to process my Electric Violin and would
use it on mixes also. Some sort of Envelope
Follower/EG/VCA/Phasing/Delay combination - whatever I
could fit in a panel that would be capable of stereo
operation (at least). What seems more viable to me
currently however, would be something like a
Wiard/Blacet/Analogue Solutions/Technosaurus
Frankensynth. It is much easier for me to buy a
module at time, even if it is an expensive one in the
$300 - $500 range than to get 3 grand together for an
excellent single panel of multiple modules. So there
is the dilemma, John. If I was Mr. Moneybags I would
be on the phone with you making arrangements for those
3 modules you have up for sale. On another note, I do
like playing on others stuff, or better yet
collaborating with my stuff interfaced with others
machines while we both have a go. Usually some
strange beautiful musical serendipity occurs that is
greater than the sum of its parts.

So if I am ever up in the Northwest, maybe I can look
you up and jam for an afternoon? Have a go at the
Fist of God? hey hey...

I think if you are patient, you will ultimately be
rewarded selling your panels. I don't think that the
Serge is going to be depreciating anytime soon, even
though we are living in an economic downturn. I think
these are still the creme of the crop (even though I
have a soft spot in my heart for the Wiard). I'll try
to keep my skin from getting too thin over synths in
the future... ;-) Is this what happens when you get a
Faceplate lift? groan...
