Hi,

My name is Nick Wilson and I have been lurking here for a while. I
don't have a Serge at this time, but am lucky enough to know a few
people who do. I play a 6-string electric violin with a bit of (mostly
digital) signal processing. I also work with MIDI: Looping, Sampling,
Sequencing and Synthezier programming and have dabbled with Analog
synths since highschool (1984). I hope to eventually be working with
some signal processing from Serge. Some oscillators, e.g.s and a TKB
would be nice someday too.

I had the opportunity to meet Rex last Saturday at the MEME session that
John P. hosted. Rex is definitely King! He was really cool and laid
back to Jam with. He brought his Antenna and Ham Radio. The whole
ensemble was pretty happening : abstract noise/soundscapes on the
threshold of space. Rex mentioned that he was glad to be one of the
guys and among "space captains". It was really excellent watching Grant
Richter demo the Wiard system to Rex and then to hear Rex's comments
(all positive, yet balanced). Rex seemed very open minded to all sorts
of music technology (and music for that matter). He has a very defined
philosophy about his designs, for instance compared to Serge
Tcherepnin's. He explained the difference between some pre and post
STS oscillator designs-how Serge Iiked some dirt in his oscillators
sound while Rex liked his more precise for lower lows and higher highs.
I appreciate how Rex was rather unassuming about my mostly Digital set
up (Violin> Preamp> SE-70> Jamman> SP-808 <Kaoss Pad <QY-70. This is
supplemented with a MIDI Pedalboard, footswitches + expression pedals)
and saw what I am trying to do with it. We talked about a signal
processing panel and possible options for CV foot control.
Rex even described an X/Y expression pedal. I see some very
interesting developments happening in the near future. The West Coast
has moved to the 3rd Coast.

Best,

Nick
