Well, I'm waiting on my Modcan order to show up. Folks had to compare Serge
and Modcan at some point, since they're the only two systems out there using
banana jacks being currently produced.

I've conversed with Duncan a lot, and though there's a few Modcan modules
that folks might say "Uhhh...maybe he copied that from Serge..." - Duncan
spends a LOT of time prototyping his modules, and is getting ready to add a
few new ones in the next few months. I feel that he doesn't try to copy
Serge at all, he's just using logical design ideas for his modules.

How many "logical" ways *is* there to build a VC ENV anyway? Even if I'd
never seen the Modcan or Serge, I would have designed it about the same
myself. There's only so many ways of doing it that makes sense to the user.
Same goes for the other modules that have similarities. Fords and Dodge cars
all have 4 tires and a motor and a steering wheel too.....

Heck, let's toss a few of the Wiard modules in there as well. Grant has no
problem saying what some of his designs are based on. Read the Wogglebug
description. It's all really a moot point as far as I'm concerned.

That was a rant, wasn't it? Sorry....

Anyway, the Modcan makes a great way to expand your Serge if you don't want
to pop $3000 for a full panel, which is one of my main Serge gripes. The
Serge modules are priced pretty nice. They're less expensive than
MOTM....it's just that you've got to buy a whole truck load of them at one
time and how long is the turn-around time now for a panel? Duncan promised
to ship my first 10 module order in 4 to 5 weeks. Rex makes great gear and
is happy with his sales. He's making what he wants from selling full Serge
panels, knows what he's got and if you're not willing to go that route, than
that's OK by him too. Maybe one day though we'll figure out how to convince
him to sell individual modules again. Who wants to take the first shot?

I'm going to buy two Serge panels at some point in the future. Gotta save up
for them though, which is hard to do when you can go ahead and be enjoying
other manufacturers modules - a few new one at a time. I really want a Soup
Kitchen with the Frequency Shifter and Wilson delay, and a custom panel with
some extra VCAs, mixing and a DUSG or two...

All we need now is moe money....

(heh...then again, if KLYS stock does what it's supposed to do...I'll buy
more than 2 panels!)
